I have a chance to purchase a Microtech Ultratech at a substantial discount through a direct to LEO/EMS/MIL program.

I have never handled one, but have always wanted one.

What's your impressions?

I have a few Microtechs. They are cool.  If you want to try one first, they are usually available at gun shows.  If you don't like it, you could always sell it pretty easily.

I have an ultratech and I really like it.  I just dont like the glass breaker on my older one, it is extremely sharp on its point.  If I have to kneel down for any reason, it sticks right into my leg and is extremely painful. Looking at the newer models, it appears they have changed the design some.

Thanks, I definitely think I'm getting it...I also noticed the UTX70 (70% the size of an Ultratech) model and may pick one of those up as well.

Do it, I have the blue line version and I am extremely happy with it. Can't beat the price with the discount!

I have one of those too. The Ultratech is nicer, but they are both pretty cool.

Yea? Better in ergonomics? Or in craftsmanship? I would assume since it's a "mini" version, some of the detail would be deminished. But, I would think it would be a good discreet "tacticool" option.

I thought so too. I have wanted one of the stormtrooper single edge ultratechs since I first saw one, but I talked myself out of them since I already have a single edge ultratech.  Been wanting a combat troodon troodon for a while and when I saw that one I fell in love.

I would get this one, but it doesn't come with a belt clip.  Deal breaker.

She's a midget. It's just a regular size knife.
