Turning 5.56X45 mm brass into 6X45 mm brass one case at a time since April 2014.
6.8 SPC II, That's .270 Lite for those of us in the real world.
M1A Socom 16; Its bark blows minds, its bite is even worst!
30 Herrett AR; I know, 7.62X39 is cheaper... But I already had the 6.8 SPC brass and bolts.

Those things need some attachments to be useful.

Jeebus Glenn, you need to buy some other parts beside these side chargers! I will be impressed when they all turn into rifles, lol.
Looks like your work is cut out for you.
Always glad to push a BRD brother a little!!

No worries there Retcop.
I did ask if I did not go far enough. One thing I trust about you guy's is your honesty...
Now if you don't mind, I need to start turning these guys into full functioning uppers so I can get my Man Card back.
Thanks,
Glenn

At my age...
Depends on which handguards I install.
The ones that come with the ALG Defense handguards are in the boxes with the handguards.
Have an Apex 14" handguard and the Troy handguards I like use standard barrel nuts. Which are in my AR parts box.
Really need to pick up some cam pins, firing pins and firing pin retaining pins. Bolts I have, both in 5.56 and 6.8 SPC.
Barrels and calibers need to be figured out. Might have to actually buy a .223/5.56 barrel. Never owned one.
Have 2; 6x45mm, 2; 6.8 SPC, one TAC 30/30 Herrett and one American 30. Have an AR pistol in 300 Blackout, Not going to do a rifle in that caliber.
Not mentioning anything else personal in front of this crowd...
Thanks,
Glenn

I buy these.
https://www.ebay.com...353.m1438.l2649
Then I make my own handguards from stuff I buy at Lowes.
You can make em as long as you want. Anything longer than the barrel has blowback problems.

Now all you need is some tennis balls, 5.56 blanks and a dog to fetch the tennis balls.
Wait I have something better....
Hey Towtruck!!! get one of your .223/5.56 AR's set up like this.
Tennis balls, lighter fluid, 5.56 blanks and get Flesh Wound to make you a large tripod to turn the AR into a mortar .
Soak the tennis balls in lighter fluid, shake off excess fluid. load into tube and rain H-E-double hockey sticks on them Potguts!!!
I know, I'm a sick little puppy... but I gots to be me...
Thanks,
Glenn

There is a 24" Grendel barrel in there somewhere.
I wouldn't want to put pressure on that plastic pipe.
It is only a "barrel shroud" for my "Pennsylvania LongRifle".

That long barrel shroud is extremely deadly. It is a tripping hazard.
Those side charging receivers are especially good for the BFCs (Big Fat Cartridges) because of the the large ejection port.
I just assembled a 458 SOCOM and pirated a side charger from my 6.5 Grendel.
I plan to cut a mil spec upper later to make the BFCs eject.
