I know there is the Ft Bliss rod and gun but is there anything closer? Looking for something with pistol and at least 100 yards to get a good zero on a rifle.

I saw that one, indoor and only 25 yards, hard to do any rifle work there.

Well I got down here and was talking to a few folks.  Luckly our BP agent is a big hunter and shooter.  It seems right up the road at the next exit from the Airport is this place.

Not a big fancy website so I wasn't expecting much.  I was very wrong.

While not very fancy, not even a sign, its is more or less cleared out desert with some benches and berms and backers and stuff like that, it has a firing line over a mile long and goes out to 1K.  The coolest thing is that it is open sun up till sun down and is free.  This is something I am not used to back at home.  Any place within a 3 hour drive that goes more than 400 is a members only and costs a couple hundred a year.  All you have to do is drive up on the place.  You can actually drive all the way out to the 1K backers and post targets.  I am in shock but in a good way.

I can't wait till the GA shows up.
