But it is a secret, if I told you I'd have to kill you.

When was the last time that S&W did anything "big"? :hmm:  I think it was back around the Great War.

Big is a relative thing of course. This is a part of the gun market they haven't even tried to get into since 1945. If they can hit the price point and undercut the others out there they could seriously make a splash. If they don't it will be just another missed opportunity.

My guess is a 9mm carbine. Here's the one they submitted to the Army in 1945:

You can just PM me if I'm right. We don't need to let the rest of these guys in on it!

When you find my body, surrounded by expended magazines and hot empty brass, smoke still curling from the barrel..... then you can have it!

That could be interesting for them. Although it seems like a crowded market when you have Ruger, Hi-Point, Kel Tec, Kris-Vector, Just Right, AR based rigs, Beretta (and others).....

I bet it's an ambi side/top charging, 3 beam tensioned barrel, graphite shrouded, 3 preset adjustable trigger pull, boron coated fiber wrapped balsa stock, variable hydro/pneumatic buffer, Damascus aluminum billet upper/lower  with several colors and 15 chamberings. Ok. I'm just being silly. Really what's the news?

30 Herrett AR; I know, 7.62X39 is cheaper... But I already had the 6.8 SPC brass and bolts.
