Well guys, I have had two complete lower assemblies and one complete upper receiver laying around for several months. It has been a real dilemma trying to figure out what to do with them. Yesterday, I was on ARFCOM in the EE and ran across a second-hand Ballistic Advantage 16" SS SPR barrel (https://ballisticadv...ium-barrel.html). I am picking it up for $100 shipped. I just ordered the gas tube, muzzle device (VG6 Precision Epsilon Compensator), and stock (Magpul MOE Slim Line Carbine Stock - MIL-SPEC). I am still racking my brain on a handguard (12"-14"). I am trying to keep expenses down as much as I can. Looking at using a VORTEX Strike Eagle and possibly an Aero Precision scope mount. Still need to order a gas block as well. Another difficult decision. Oh well. All I have is time.

I did just order the Aero Precision 30mm SPR scope mount and a CMT low profile .750 gas block. Now, to make a decision on the handguard.

Not yet. I have read good things about it over the past few years. I usually use the SLR Rifleworks 556 Synergy BCF, but wanted to go with the VG6 this time.

I built a rig for a customer using a 18 ev5 barrel, adjustable gb, atlas 12 hand guard and rise drop in trigger with the same muzzle device. All you could feel was the bolt stoping in its rear ward cycle. Never lost picture of my target with it. I think you will like it.

It's about time you started finding good homes for all your children.

It's not healthy to keep them cooped up like that.

I was busy earlier trying to source a good deal on a VORTEX Strike Eagle scope. Everyone was wanting between $279.99 to $299.99. I managed to find one of the ARFCOM EE for $200 shipped. His funds went in the mail this afternoon. I also ordered a Strike Industries charging handle with the extended latch (I like this charging handle) and a MAGPUL MOE grip. I love progress, especially when stuff starts to show up on my door step. :)

Sounds like another fine build.  I cant wait for the pics on this one.  You will like the BA barrel.  I chose the 20" DMR premium series for my build and its a tack driver.

More parts have been rolling in. More parts to arrive in the next few days. Got word today that the barrel should be delivered on Thursday. I should have the AR built this weekend with the exception of the Strike Eagle scope. That should be shipping late this week.

That was ages ago. Got a A2 upper waiting for a barrel that nobody want to manufacture, sell, etc. It's been over a week already! :tap:

Tack, go in your closet and grab me an 11.5" barrel with fsb and delta assembly please. I know you have one.  :D:

I had to make a visit to the PO this morning as there was a delivery issue with my package from Primary Arms. The PO said that it was not deliverable as the address was messed up. Funny thing is that I had another package delivered from Primary Arms yesterday with no issue. In the course of nearly 12 hours from the time the attempted to deliver the package, they sent the package back to Primary Arms. I had to call PA this morning and inform them of the return. I guess my charging handle and pistol grip will be at least another week in arriving. I did get a tracking number last night on the Strike Eagle. It is due to arrive on Friday. Looks like sometime next week before I can get this build done. Oh well.

Can you tell me why CMT ?

You said you were trying to keep costs down.

So they provide good quality at a reasonable price?

I presume you have used them before.

Trying to jump on this learning experience....

Any other suggestions for good lo-pro blocks for not alot of green (prefer to pin it)

I am also going to check out your MI rail, but I doubt it is going to be what I consider inexpensive...

Edit: I guess I could ask you the same question about the list of parts you have that are unfamiliar names to me,

or even some that are. Example: Why a Windham lower parts kit (name known to me)

Why a Strike charging handle.  (not known to me)

Etc. etc.

Is it mainly based on price ?

Thank you, kind sir,
