I would say of those two i wouldgo with the 7mm-08 or i would go with the .260 Rem. My first deer rifle was a .260 in a remington model 7 and LOVE it, although most of the time i now either use my .300 Win mag in my encore or a RAA .308 for deer hunting i still use and have shot a few deer with my .260
