Howdy! Mornin' Joel

So back from being AWOL thought I would share pictures of a buy. When GMountain was still around, he and I used to kid each other as to who would buy a Brown Bess first. We both wanted one but neither of us would "pull the trigger" to buy it. Well, sometime after he died, I decided life was short. I've always wanted one. So, I did it. Pictured below are two guns I purchased at the same time. The first is a 1st Model Brown Bess. It saw service in the Rev War. The second is a PA flintlock. On the top of the barrel is stamped "D. Young". The Youngs were famous gun makers from the Lancaster area in the late 1700's and early 1800's. One of the more famous Young rifle makers was Jacob Young. Google "Jacob Young flintlock" and look at some his work. Jacob is one of my 7th generation grandfather's son. Im descended through his brother. So in a sense this D. Young rifle is family. Think about that for a second and it blows my mind to be able to find it for sale. When they arrived at the house, I kind of raised my glass to GMountain and saluted him for always encouraging me to get it. https://flic.kr/p/2ky7dcg

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. It's been a while. So long I can't remember. Good people on here!! I will admit I got kind of bummed when GMountain died. I'd never met him face to face but we had struck up a friendship over the years. I still talk to a few of you guys via other avenues. So, for now, "howdy" and keep your powder dry!!

The young man has a past. Not a violent one but a past still the same. Before I get flamed, I am a die hard 2A supporter. I don't like any infringements. But realistically, could we have flagged someone like this? Im not saying take away his rights. But if a 17 year old, has a hit list and has to be investigated by local authorities and is suspended from school, should he have to have a tougher background check? Im not saying he should be denied, but should he have an extended interview with LEO? He waited 7 years to do anything. Im sure he was just a memory in. most people's.minds as far as the hit list is concerned. I don't like red flag laws. I think it is just too easy to say someone who hasn't done a darn thing but maybe said some words to have their rights infringed upon. What's your thoughts?
