Just installed a 4# Timney in my Bushmaster modular. What a great trigger! Easy install and no problems.

looking for a new powder to try

I'm and old guy and set in my ways, so I've used Varget for years but recently tried some BL-C(2). Easily produces sub MOA groups with 55g FMJ pills. For paper punching I used 26.5 grains. I haven't shot it over the chrono yet so can't comment on velocity. It meters like a dream, but is not an "extreme" powder so you might need to make some adjustments from hot summer to cold winter.

    Ordered an LMT F/A BCG

Chris at Addax helped me with a Young Manuf. I used it with a Bushy upper and it functions great. Locks up solid with good head spacing. It easily shoots MOA at 100 yards.
  5. Best all around gun for me is the Glock 19. I also frequently drop my S&W 360PD into a pocket. At the range I tend to practice with what I carry, but from time to time really enjoy my Springer 1911. Best advice so far... go to a range and rent till you find something that you're comfortable with.

    CCW pistols for women?

Wife carries a S&W 642 and keeps her Glock 34 in the night stand.

Your Opinion Of the DPMS AR-15

The wife has a DPMS "16 inch Lite" Carbine and easily shoots 1 MOA at 100 yds with a little 4X optic. No complaints here about the fit / finish or quality of the gun. I would buy another one, no problem.

    Paging TomJefferson Powder question

I load 26.5g of Varget under 55g FMJs using RP or WIN .223 brass. With the LC Mil-Spec Brass your 25.8g may be about right. On my 26.5g loads (non-mil brass) the Varget does come up to where the case neck starts, but I have not observed any pressure problems. I weigh each load and when I dump the load into the funnel, I always tap the edge of the funnel a couple of times to "settle" the powder into the case. I use RCBS mechanical scales and always calibrate with a set of "check-weights" before each loading run. The calibration weights come in 20, 10, 5, 2, 1, and 1/2 grain sizes. Good luck and have fun...

    Load suggestions

In my bolt .223 I've had pretty good results with 25g of Varget under 69g Matchkings, 2.60 OAL. The Sierra's look almost identical to your 68g BTHPs. Looks like you're up for some serious fun with that combo! Good luck...

    montana gold?

++ on Montana Gold. Been loading their 230g FMJ in 45ACP for years now. Accurate and consistent quality.

    .45 ACP Load

For target I've been loading 4.8g Bullseye under 230g fmj from Montana Gold for three+ years now. My Springer Mil-Spec 1911A1 (with Wilson barrel) will put five rounds in a quarter size group at seven yards with this combo.

    .223 powder

+1 Varget: 26.5g under 55g fmj for plinking and 25g under 69g MatchKings for more serious target shooting. Been using it for about four years now.
