Bolt carrier stuck with round inside, how to unstick

Yeah....I was just messin around with the lube jokes... But I haven't seen Slip 2000 yet. I'll look into it. I WAS using regular gun oil and I hadn't planned on the rapid fire session I was having fun with. I think if I was just firing regularly it may not have been an issue. So I guess if I plan on doing that again, i will have to invest in good lube.

KY en route!...I mean Rem oil.

Bolt carrier stuck with round inside, how to unstick

No pictures required. A few mortar taps and some persuasion with a super hard piece of plastic got 'er loose. I dont see any super significant markings or defects on the empty round or the BCG, nor in the chamber. I'll clean it up and give it a go again. Of course I'll be nervous with that first trigger pull...

Bolt carrier stuck with round inside, how to unstick

Hmmmmm, from seeing the picture I have in my head (since I'm still at work and unfortunately don't have my AR with me) I want to say the BCG is far enough back that the lugs are free and it's just the BCG that is stuck in place. I say this also because I remember looking in there and wondering to myself "why won't this come back any further?...the lugs don't seem to be hung up on anything..." I mentioned having about 1/2" of free play for the BCG, but it may be more like 1/4"-3/8" of aft freeplay with the BCG.

Bolt carrier stuck with round inside, how to unstick

I'll get pics up at about 3pm CST. (I'm having a super slow day at work so I have a little extra time right now to be posting). As mentioned, it's crappy ammo....steel cased Brown Bear with lacqured primer. I'm obviously going to order a new CH anyway, so if mortaring w/o the CH doesn't work.... BCG stuck in the fwd position, with about 1/2" of travel to the aft position... I'll have to get a dowel, but I have a BFH... Will collapse the stock when mortaring. Oh, and If I recall, the "jam" occured during a "bump fire" session. May have to get the PB Blaster too, I dont remember if I have any. I have Rem oil though. If a cat happens to walk by at the time of mortaring...I may try it with the cat anyway!

I did read about the "mortar" technique. I may try that, but if that doesn't work....do I need to take my barrel off? I have the gun in 2 parts right now so i will re-assemble it to try mortaring.
  7. Hey ya'll, Long time no talk! Anyway, I was out shootin my S&W M4 back in september and it got a little hot and jammed. Im not sure if the heat caused the jam, or if its crummy ammo. Anyhow, I couldn't get it to comeback just by pulling on the charging handle, so I tried to persuade it open with a little extra force and broke my charging handle (stupid aluminum!). Now I have a broken handle AND a stuck bolt assembly. Im not sure if there is a live or spent round in the chamber. I'm going to guess it's a spent round because when I was flying back home a couple days later after the gun messed up, TSA didnt question me about having a live round in the chamber when they X-rayed the gun and case. So I'm guessing they saw it was a spent round....not real sure. So I'd like to get some ideas and advice on how to unstick my stuff!
  8. Hey ya'll, just wondering if anyone knows of a place out east in colorado to take the guns. Im wanting to have plenty of distance to shoot. No less than 200yds. Thanks!
  9. Copy. I was unaware of CTD's history. But I have seen that written on here several times now. No more buying from them.....and I'm the kind of guy to email companies and tell them how I feel along with how the rest of the community feels....
  10. Which of these is the best? How about the cheaper priced teflon coated? are they decent? www.cheaperthandirt.com/emails/MagP...0-05-19MagPairs

    PMAG question

I see...i just bought the gun almost two months ago and it was in fantastic condition when I bought it....basically brand new according to the shop owner I bought it from...maybe 30 rds through it. There was no brass wear on the deflector and the gun looked excellent. So I assume its fairly new. Anyway, I will look into it. Thanks for the info.

I realize that. but its a stock for a rifle. not a helicopter. I doubt very seriously its inch lbs. sorry but I miss spoke earlier when I said inch lbs. I work on the F-22 in the Air national guard and did so for 4 years active duty and i work on the F-35 for lockheed martin for my civilian job. I know all about torguing values.
