"all buy it now" meaning you buy it now, no bidding.
I just assumed the guy I was getting them from was a Vortex employee or had an in with Vortex or was just operating on lesser margins and higher volume.
Certain vendors like Woodbury Outfitters, Focus Camera, etc will sometimes just want to clear inventory. Some eBay vendors may be happy with 10% profit margin whereas say Opticsplanet wants a 30% margin due to more overhead. It's not actually Vortex selling on eBay...
Sellers have feedback from buyers and some sellers will have statistics saying something like "51 of these items have been sold" then it will have the buyer feedback.
eBay has a guarantee and so does Paypal, plus the items I got literally were shipped from "Vortex Optics Shipping Department" hard to be fraudulent when it is coming from Vortex direct.
Not always is eBay cheaper but for someone that doesn't get military or LEO discount you can easily save 45 to even 200 bucks on various optics. Not long ago Woodbury Outfitters had the Burris Veracity FFP 4-20x50 for $400. It's usually pushing $750.
Another option is tracking items on Amazon to get a feel for the prices then you can go to camelcamelcamel.com and sign up for email notifications on items when it hits a certain price point. The camel site gives you lowest price, highest price, last 5 price changes, and average price.
If you want something right now then none of those options are great, but if you know what you want and don't have a rush on when you get it then you can get some really good deals and save money.
