  1. I am trying to convince my friend to get an AR. He is a little more into the AK's, but I think I have him convincned. He said if he gets an AR he wants either the Colt or the Bushmaster. I told him I would check it out on the forum since you guys are always so helpful. Any input would be helpful.. Money isnt really too much of an object for this lucky fellow... Thanks for you help!! Scott
  2. So after i bought that 7.62x39 AR a few weeks ago and it was jamming the guy at the gun shop just let me swap it out with a brand new AR from the factory, A Colt .223, but I had to throw in a few hundred more bucks. But I cant wait to go shoot it this weekend!! Anyone know about Colt AR's. Are they a good brand?
  3. Scott here! Putnam/Westchester NY area. Glad to be aboard!! Lovin the armory
  4. Not sure how far Danbury is from you exactly, but I live in Putnam and go to Wooster Mountain State Park. Its $15 to shoot all day and $5 for a target. Its 5 minutes from the Danbury Mall. Not sure about whats in Putnam..
  5. It was sticking out sideways about 1/2 in and 1/2 out with the butt end facing outside... Thanks again toeveryone for the help!!
  6. I went to the range to fire my AR-15 for the very first time. For some reason I just knew something was wrong with my gun from the moment I found out it was built by a customer of the gunshop. Anyway the gun was a 7.62x39. When I got there there were several other folks with AR's and other assault rifles who were very helpful but every time i fired my gun the shell did not completely eject and got stuck in the side chamber!! The guys that were there helped me clena it, lube it up and make sure everything was working properly and it still happened. Each of them said the bolt felt a little tight and the magazine seemed strange as well. Anyway I brought it back to the shop and he said "well i can fix this for you or you can have a brand new .223 that I have coming in on Tuesday (aka tomorrow), so I opted for the brand new factory gun.. Hopefully this was the right decision. Anyone have some idea on what was happening??? I will send some new pics and keep everyone updated on the new gun once I go back to the range tomorrow. Thanks again for everyones feedbaack over the weeks. Scott

    Dry Firing

haha hopefully you are right!! I dont know the guy who put it together but the store owner seemed to think everything was fine. And its a 7.62x39 so I guess Im just being over cautious. Dont want it to blow up in my face the first time i fire it

    Dry Firing

I bought it brand new from the gun shop but it wasnt factory built. I guess thats why I'm a bit nervous. It was built by one of his customers. I got a better price on it becasue of that. Hopefully that wasnt a mistake. Thanks for ur help!

OK so i got a little more info about the gun from the owner. The chamber is 7.62 x 39. It has a 1 stage trigger, and the ammo is Yugoslavian ammo??? He didnt know the brand. Hopefully thats not a bad sign. Who typically carries the brands that have been recommended to me on this forum??? And no I still havent figured out how to post pictures but havent spent too much time trying lol I have apic on my comp so I will figure it out Im sure
