  1. I just checked out the Parker County Sportsman Club online and I have to say, I am excited. Much appreciated, chuckfw. I miss shooting outside and I love the idea of being able to shoot whenever I want. It is almost exactly as far away as my girlfriend in Dallas. Looks like my appropriation of gas money is going to change a little...
  2. I know there isn't a whole lot of discussion about reloading for shotguns here, I thought I would throw this one out there to see if I could get any bites. I've loaded buckshot and slugs for my 12 gauge for a while now and have decided I "need" a new toy for the bench. Variety is the spice of life, after all. I looked into some round ball molds and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them, particularly the Lee .690 mold.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I bought some primers and powder at Cabela's the other day. Not the greatest prices, but it beats not finding them at all. I've heard some good things about the Grand Prairie Gun Club, I'll definitely have to check it out. I was going to buy a membership at the Winchester Gallery but I am willing to pay more elsewhere just based on the attitude there. Boy do I miss good old Arizona public land.
  4. I'm in west Fort Worth just inside the 820 loop, which puts me about 45 minutes to an hour away from Dallas Pistol Club.
  5. I moved out to Fort Worth from Arizona and just set up my reloading bench. Nice to get back to it. Does anyone here have any suggestions as to the best places to pick up components in the area? Also, coming from Arizona I was used to driving out into the woods to shoot. Not quite so easy here in Texas. Any suggestions for good ranges or gun clubs? I shot at the Winchester Shooting Gallery the other day and after dealing with the gun snobs working there and their snide comments about shooting reloads through a Taurus 24/7, I doubt I'll go back anytime soon.

  7. I hear you. I work at a tire shop and keep almost every single weight I pull off. I'm thinking about just pulling the proverbial trigger and buying the devastator. If it's as good as the .356 version I'm sure it's great.
  8. I have cast more than a few devastator bullets for my 9mm pistols and have been extremely happy with their performance. Has anyone tried their hand at casting the .452 devastators for their 1911?
  9. Just stumbled across this topic. I'm a college student in Flag as well, been reloading for a couple years in my apartment. Ever need any help, let me know. I'm far from an expert but I might be able to help you out if you have any questions. Maybe you can avoid some of my mistakes... And if you need reloading components, I'd sure like to get together on a small scale group buy!
  10. As always, outstanding advice. I've been doing some research the past few days and I've definitely decided to go the route of customizing an already serviceable pistol. Maybe someday, if I can ever afford all the necessary tools and have the time.
  11. Sorry for the delay, YJ. In all honesty, head down any old fire road and pull off wherever itlooks good. Hike out a ways, scout the area for anyone who might decide to stumble into you, and have a blast. Once you get out there off the road a bit you'll find game and a helluva lot of empty cans and bottles. Keep an eye out for those mountain cats, though. Seen more than a few out there.
  12. The legal aspect is defintely something to think about. Am I crazy or does it seem like the legal system today is more concerned with protecting the rights of the people who break the law? As far as I'm concerned, if anyone comes through someone's door at three in the morning uninvited, I don't care what he gets shot with. Hell, light him on fire!
  13. We've all seen it in the movies and I'm sure many of us have heard about it from some crazy uncle or old timer at a local gun shop. I've done some research and I haven't found anything that leads me to believe it's practical or effective in any sense. Does anybody have any practical experience with shotshells loaded with rock salt?
  14. Best for rabbits is out at the cinders. Jacks and cottontails. Also a decent place to go coyote calling. Just keep an eye out for high school kids acting retarded out there.
  15. Oh that's right, huh? Damn NAU. Yeah, I probably should study for finals, but I'm sure I have time for both...
