  1. Well first off thanks for everyone's info they have left for me to read. I have the rifle ordered minus some optics. I still cannot decide. To give you some background its a custom upper Chris put together for me at Addax and the desire is to turn it into a longer range target puncher with some hunting occasionally. I will be sure to post some pics when I get everything together and situated. To my question at hand. I am having some trouble wading through the optics that out there. I know that some of the options are "multi-use scopes", tactical scopes (ACOG, Aimpoint, EOtech), tactical scopes with magnifiers, and those of the AR specific variety. In this case money is minimally an object no 3000$ scopes, I am just trying to get the best for the money in the long run. Will ACOGs be useful at 200-300 yards? A few recommendations have been the Bushnell Elite 6500 or the Trijicon Accupoint 3-9 Mil-Dot with Amber Center Dot. I know Leupolds are around for a large quantity of money as well as Nikon. Anyone put a weaver on their AR? Thanks
  2. 15$ FFL Transfer. Looking around to receive a lower was checking out what the options are in FFLs as of late. Here is what I found. 40$ Frontiersman 15$ Bullseye Shooting Supply, Lake Elmo (Owned by some OGC members) Any other winners around the metro?
  3. Thanks for that super quick response! Just trying to put together price list.
  4. What are the different sized buffer tubes/springs for? If you are putting a Magpul UBR collapsible stock but also with a rifle length gas tube. Which one is the correct configuration? AR-15 CARBINE BUFFER SPRING (MFG. BY CMT) http://www.adxtactical.com/store/pc/viewPr...mp;idcategory=0 AR15 CARBINE COMMERCIAL SIZED BUFFER TUBE http://www.adxtactical.com/store/pc/viewPr...mp;idcategory=0 AR-15 RIFLE - STANDARD LENGTH BUFFER SPRING http://www.adxtactical.com/store/pc/viewPr...mp;idcategory=0 AR15 RIFLE-STANDARD LENGTH BUFFER TUBE http://www.adxtactical.com/store/pc/viewPr...mp;idcategory=0 Thanks in advance guys.
  5. looking good! makes me itching to get my first ar together..
  6. I was amazed at Chris' patience and knowledge. I am sure people have experienced the jerk gun dealers who look at you like your nuts. Filled in quite a few holes as well with his personal and usually hands on wisdom. I heard at one point recently they were working on getting their FFL established which along with everything else in CA requires several more hoops to jump through.
  7. Awesome to hear, helps avoid some of the gun=taboo problem though not so existent in families with firearms. Does anyone remember Eddie the Eagle? http://www.nrahq.org/safety/eddie/
  8. Looking for some input from everyone on what they think the most important specialty tools in .223 reloading. After doing some reading and looking at some available brass, the military loads talk about a crimped primer pocket that must be removed. Other than that swage(sp?) tool and the caliber specific dies. Anything else that people have found useful?
  9. Thanks guys appreciate the quick response.
  10. Hey guys Have been back and forth about putting together my first build from "as scratch" as possible, reading the massive quantities of opinions and ideas I have started to put together a list of of components that seems to be coinciding with the general feel here. For a simple question, where do you guys recommend buying from? I here there is a guy over at Addax that will work with getting you the best deal. Is that the way to go? There seems to be a huge influx of everyone wanting to sell parts. I know there are lists of vendors but I am looking for personal recommendations. Thanks
