  1. I've seen a few slings made out of 550 cord. I would be interested in one if possibly made more wider. I really don't care about the thickness of the sling from the buffer tube to the O ring, however I'm wondering if she can make a wider braid that goes against the neck and chest. Possibly 2 inches. PM me if possible. Thanks. Oh yeah keep the guts in the cord by the way.
  2. So I'm still trying to decide on a sight for my current build. I know there is nothing quicker than an Aimpoint or EOTech when it comes to aiming and firing and being on target. I'm however new to variable scopes. When it comes to a 1-xxx scope will target acquisition be just as easy with practice. Muscle memory and practice goes a long way, but since my experience with scopes is near to none, does it become second nature after a while? I'm trying to build a rifle capable of CQB as well as mid-range capabilities. Oh yeah like mentioned above I've used red-dots a lot. Both recreationally and in the military. We would use Kentucky windage and holdovers with just our red-dots out to 300 meters. I was infantry by the way, so adapting isn't new to me. So with that said, do you guys think I may prosper with the SWFA 1-6 that's coming out soon? The SWFA 1-6 should come out soon. The turrets are capped, so after zeroing it in I really don't know how the hash marks work out for range and holdover. I tried to post pictures of the reticle at 6x but I don't know how to. Maybe someone can school me on how to use the reticles for holdover and what each hash mark relates to with range. Thanks
  3. yeah I was about to ask if it had an angled front to it. you got it though. and I agree it is on the unusual side. just like when the seekins lower first came out...I waited and waited for that lower. now that I build a rifle with it i'm not so fond of it. i'm sticking to mil-spec uppers and lowers now.

    SWFA

just got an email back from swfa. they said that the 1-6 scopes are held up in customs for over a week now I believe. so I guess its good to hear that they are stateside at least. they still didn't have a date of shipping them out. they replied quick, so at least they read their emails and are concerned for their customers...and i'm not even someone that has one on back order.

    SWFA

Well here I am again. Still trying to spend my money wisely. When referring to an Aimpoint it states that it is parallax-free. Now that would make CQB as simple as possible. When added to there magnifier it may be able to extend it's reach out further. For those with a 1-4 or 1-6 or whatever scope you may have with a 1x at the low end how quick can you properly align yourself behind your scope to make a quick, up close shot? I'm sure its not as instinctive as an Aimpoint considering you don't have to have a perfect cheek weld. Considering these factors what direction should I go?

    SWFA

I've read good things as well, but there's always individuals that expect supernatural result from a scope. And I think that's when the negative reviews come in. Hopefully soon SWFA will start shipping out a huge quantity of their 1-6 scopes so that there will be a large number of reviews on them. Judging from that as well as their track record maybe it might be the deciding factor for my purchase. I just hope the scope comes sooner than later!

    SWFA

That would piss me off too, but I've been looking at a few reviews. Judging from the reviews it seems as if they have cleaned up their act. They also have the highly recommended Bobro mount on their side rebranded with their logo. I guess time will tell after a bunch of people finally receive there back-ordered 1-6 scopes. But really if history repeats itself then I think I may be in the market for their $1,000 scope that would probably cost upwards of $1200 or $1300 with other brands with the same characteristics.

    rifle storage

yeah that's how the armorers kept our rifles. i'll do mine vertically now
  9. Anyone here with an SWFA 1-4 HD. What are your opinions? Do you think its worth the wait for their 1-6 HD. So far I don't think I have read a negative review on their products. I just emailed them and I'm still waiting for a response. The 1-4 and 1-6 are both FFP scopes which seems to be a more expensive option then SFP scopes. I'm just looking for some short reviews on what they currently have out. Are there any gripes you may have with their short-medium range scopes? Thanks Much

    rifle storage

your response just made me even more paranoid. i'll be storing my ar's differently now.

    Troy Alpha Rail

the new alpha rails don't use those 2 screw mounts on the bottom. they use 3 tension screws at the 10, 2, and 6 o'clock position. I think it works great. however the quad bravo rail uses 4 tensioning screws.

    Troy Alpha Rail

I have the troy 13 inch alpha on one of my builds. Its a great handguard. if you prefer a thin modular rail then I think you will be happy with it. I myself was not. After getting the modular rail it felt too thin for me. Even though it didn't feel so great in my hands I still could not steer away from the quality of Troy Ind. So I just ended up getting their 11 inch quad bravo rail for my current build.

    rifle storage

This may seem like a stupid question, but I just have to ask. When I was going to school for diesel mechanics they told us not to rest the cylinder sleeves on its side because they will start to oval out. I was wondering if an AR was to be hung or stored in the horizontal position with one hanging point at the stock and the other hanging point at the muzzle will the barrel begin to droop? Thanks Much.
  14. Well I really don't have a great reason as to why I want a magnifier. Its just simply "why not". If a magnifier will add an extra edge then I don't see why I shouldn't add it. This supposedly is going to be my "ultimate" build so I'm trying to get the best setup possible. Hey thank for the response by the way.
  15. I think I'm gonna go with an Aimpoint CompM4S with the 3x Magnifier. Thanks for the suggestions.
