    AR-15 "short stroking"?

I havent gotten a chance to test it out yet :/ but how would one go about opening up the gas hole on the barrel? ive got some drill presses but that sounds like something for a gunsmith maybe or is it pretty easy?

    AR-15 "short stroking"?

Ok guys, Just wanted to update, I took everything apart. Made sure the gas tube was in the gas block the correct way, measured the distance from the shoulder to the gas hole in the barrel and verified the distance on the gas block, This had the block all the way up to the handgaurd cap on the shoulder. put it all back together. And i plugged the end of the barrell and shot some compressed air down the gas tube and felt some coming back out of the barrel, and shot some down the barrel and felt some coming out of the gas tube, so i do have some sort of air flow there. Ive cleaned and oiled the rest of upper and BCG and nothing is being held up anywhere. So hopefully this has it fixed but I wont know until i can shoot it again. Anything else you guys can think of i can check in the mean time. Ive done the following -tried diff mags and ammo that work in other rifles -tried diff BCG, same result, tried my BCG in another rifle, worked fine -tried diff buffer and buffer spring same result -cleaned and oiled the upper and BCG -checked the gas system to the best of my ability

    AR-15 "short stroking"?

Think i will need to replace the gas block or gas tube? I put the rifle together myself. And we put the gas tube in the gas block and then slid it back into the port on the upper and then tightened it all down. The gas tube lined up and isnt bent or being pulled one way or the other. Just at a loss at what i should do. I have a .22lr conversion that worked flawlessy in the rifle, but i dont think it utilizes the gas system.

    AR-15 "short stroking"?

I did build it myself and had it all the way up on the shoulder. ill try backing it off a bit. I just can test fire it at will unfortunately...my neighbors might not be keen on that lol

    AR-15 "short stroking"?

Hey guys, I built an AR and finally got my BCG in and went to go shoot it and I am experiencing problems. I can load a magazine, chamber and round and it will fire, but it will not extract the round and therefore not feed the next. Initially I thought it was an issue with my buffer and spring since i have an H2 buffer and i figured it was too heavy. So i swapped it with my buddies standard carbine buffer and spring, same issue. I swapped out my BCG with his, and same issue (my BCG worked flawlessly in his rifle. I was wondering what else it could be. something in the upper itself? or the gas system? and the best way to isolate what was happening. What I can say is that after firing a round, in order to pull back the charging handle and extract the round, it was a lot tougher to pull than it should have been, but thats really the only thing i noticed. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Add red dot to top of ACOG

I guess the 45 degree is an option...any suggestions on the 45's? As far as the RMR that is a good deal, but i was looking more so just to throw something cheap up there. but perhaps the 45 degree is a better option

Add red dot to top of ACOG

Hey Guys, I just picked up an ACOG ta31f for my rifle. I got a good deal on it used. I was wondering if there was a way to mount another red dot on top of it other than the Trijicon RMR as i simply cant afford it right now and was wondering if anyone knew of a mount/red dot combo that would fit the ACOG. Thanks!

    upper receiver assembly

Hey guys, I was trying to assemble my upper receiver tonight and read that the barrel nut should be torqued at a minimum of 30 ft lbs and should not exceed 80 ft lbs. My problem is that, between those two increments, a slot is not lined up perfectly straight for the gas tube. The closest I got it was right at 80 ft lbs, the gas tube was skewed just a tad to the right. My question is how should I proceed, or has anyone experience this before. I disassembled for the evening and did not want to damage any parts. Thanks in advance!

    First Rifle budget optics

My only concern with ebay and something like that is fakes, I know there are alot of convincing fakes on the market. Any good way to tell, or reputable sellers on the forum looking to get rid of a sight?

    First Rifle budget optics

Thanks for all the input so far. The two leaders seem to be making themselves evident. Vortex Strike Fire and Lucid HD7. I am going to continue my research and hope to get some more replies. Thanks!
