    No New Hi-Powers

VERY much looking forward to a range report. I hope the battle with the lawn mower did not include flying blades. John No flying blades, nearly flying finger tips. My Doctor tells me that lawn mowers don't loose many fights, I think he is correct.

    No New Hi-Powers

Just picked it up this weekend. I lost a fight with a lawnmower so I will not be able to shoot it for a couple of weeks. Btw bring a few steaks for the dogs, they protect the safe. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    No New Hi-Powers

When they added the beaver tail, they lost the magazine safety. They also added a lost of beauty. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Finally got it to the range. Just 33 rounds but enough to know it will work. 3 types of ammo all 1" groups or smaller . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

F-1 build but pretty this time..

Have fun Win. Supreme match 140 gr. Hornady 143 ELDX & 147 ELDM Picked up a case of 140 ELDMs for $228.00 so I will work the bugs out of it with them until I have time to reload. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Not great yet, but I think it will work. These are factory 140 ELDM. These are the worst and the best of the 6 or so groups shot today.

The tube is Primary Weapons Systems, the bi-pod is Accu-tac LR-10. I am sold on the Accu-tac, it is the only bi-pod I buy. Easy to adjust, sturdy, and looks great.

F-1 build but pretty this time..

It has a smallish rubber pad, but the recoil is really not bad, my .308 that weighs twice, kicks more. I can keep the target in the scope during the entire shot. It will get better, I can still dial down the gas a bit, I set it in the middle of the range at home, and left the wrench on the kitchen table.

The red is rather eye catching. The whole thing is 8.6 lbs, with a 24 inch barrel and 16 inch fore end, not too bad for an AR-10.

Hit ok before the build specs. 6.5 creedmoor, 24 inch proof barrel with +2 gas. JP LMOS bolt with high pressure end, Geissele Trigger, Lurh-ar stock..

Tell me about your Pending build

Yep, Tim called last week, told me it would be another 2 weeks or so. If there stuff shoots as good as it looks, I should be in good shape. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I got plenty of parts, the upper, lower, and hand guard will be F1 BDR-10 3G in red.

So, Who Is At The Bench Today?

It is the journey, not the destination. I am still playing with my .308 Remington ( 2 years now). I have a 1/2ish MOA load, that I like, but I am still trying for THE load. The search for the HOLY GRAIL is a long, difficult one. Funny thing, I think I will be disappointed when I find it.

Savage 110 in 300WM, anybody got one?

The suppressor was the first thing after the rifle purchase, then a scope, rings, bi-pod, spare mags, bullets, lots of powder, and all that Advil for the sore shoulder, on a fixed income? I can wait a few more months.

Savage 110 in 300WM, anybody got one?

It is only money, you can make more. I am 2 months into waiting for a Harvester Big Bore. I figure I just put off retiring for a bit longer.
  17. It is a good price, I shoot 185s all the time. They don't beat up my alloy frame 3 incher and when mixed with 4.7 gr. of clays they don't spray powder in my face when running suppressed in my Glock.

Savage 110 in 300WM, anybody got one?

I am feeling' ya Newbe. My 110 BA in 338 LM is 80 rounds old, in 4 different range trips, but I could not swallow the cost of factory ammo, mine will never see any. Once you get over the $2.50 a round price for brass, or the 70ish rounds per pound of powder it is kinda fun to shoot......in moderation.

So, Who Is At The Bench Today?

Yep suppressed, figured it would be the perfect night stand gun....except for the spray of hot powder when I pull the trigger. I thought it might be the burn rate, I will consult the chart and try something faster. Maybe faster burn and a heavier pill combo will be the ticket.

So, Who Is At The Bench Today?

Question for the group, I am sitting at the bench trying to figure out why my Glock 21 with an Octane can sprays powder back in my face. My load is my usual 4.5 gr. of WSF under a 185 gr JHP. Maybe too slow of a burn? maybe something quicker? I have a bunch of clays laying around? I am not a Glock fan, and am wondering if a 1911 style would do the same?

    6.5 creedmoor

It was surprisingly easy to do 1200, a mile ain't that much farther? I am going to give it a try, I may have to use every click and hashmark in the scope. If I fail it will not be for lack of trying. If the 6.5 will not reach I am working on loads for a 338 LM. I know it has the horsepower, not sure if I have time to get a load worked out by the end of the month.

    6.5 creedmoor

I scrounged around for months to get a couple of pounds, walked into my LGS and on a whim asked, $190 later I had an 8 pounder. Some say it is a bit temp sensitive, I have not seen it. The Hybrid Berger work great, The other honorable mention goes to Hornady 140 ELD-M. Have taken both out to 1200 yards with great results, am going for a mile in a few weeks.

    6.5 creedmoor

If you want to try something different, I was getting similar results until I tried some Berger 140 hybrids, then things tightened up. Running 42.0 gr. H4350 2.875 o.a. ( max mag length) Fed primers Hornady brass, trimmed to 1.913 annealed after every firing.
  24. So I just got back from a two day training session at Bang Steel in Virginia. I have a ballistic chart the has been verified with hits out to 1200 yards. The problem is I was shooting factory Hornady loads. If I take the velocity of the factory stuff ( measured with my Magneto Speed) and whip up a load with the same 140 gr. ELD projectile matching the measured speed of the factory stuff, no matter the length or neck tension I am golden? My chart should be good?
