Opinions on the best Quick Detach Night Vision Mount

My bad, you are correct, I just Googled the PVS 14 and the mount is entirely different. -
Opinions on the best Quick Detach Night Vision Mount
Stugotz replied to Ilikelegs's topic in General AR15 Discussion
I called the people at ITT L3 and told them I had an Insight Technology NVM-001 0B107 night vision monocular. They recommended I use a NVM-024 weapons mount. ( I have used this with an Eotech EXPS3 in the past and am currently using this with an Aimpoint M4s). I use the following for IR Illumination: I mounted an EagleTac T25C2 (Custom LED - 3.4w IR Infrared 850nm) with a weapons kit, 7" straight cord on/off switch. -
Yes I the EXPS3 & G33 plastic cases, sold the hardware though...

I used an Eotech for about a year and a half, had the chance at the range to try an Aimpoint M4 and immediately dumped the Eotech. I picked up a Comp M4s (scope only) and mounted it on a GGG quick detach and riser. I'm grouping consistently better with it than I was with the Eotech. I am firmly entrenched in the Aimpoint optics camp.

Optic photos-different types of AR optics

Here's a link: http://www.majorpandemic.com/2012/01/jp-enterprise-ar15-barrel-kit-review.html "If you opted for the JP Thermal Dissipator, it attaches to the thinner barrel profile between the gas block and receiver. The Dissipator increases barrel stiffness and provides 700% more surface area and seven times the cooling of a standard barrel profile, increased barrel life and accuracy, and improved heat management for more comfortable high rate shooting. Because of the heat dissipation abilities, heat distortion is limited and barrel temperatures are controlled even during sustained firing. The Dissipator is available for .650” and .750” barrel profiles in black, red, blue, and white anodized finish and will fit other barrels with those profiles. The red looks sharp peeking thought the handguard. Seems like someone should have taken this queue from the electronic industry and installed heat sinks long ago." -

No, I personally do not like how it looks, in theory it's suppose to do a very good job of dissipating heat though. -

Cleaning equipment for precision guns
Stugotz replied to redbarron06's topic in AR15 Gear and Accessories.
I use a Gunslick 36" carbon fiber rod with a JP Enterprises JPRG-1 guide (local company and I use a number of other JP products in my precision AR builds). Hoppe's, brass brushes, both stab and slot jags and various size patches (jag dependent) and clean regularly with exceptional accuracy results. -

Dear Abby: I recently read your column advising grandparents on "tough love." It offered advice to grandparents with respect to misbehaving grandchildren those whose own parents let them run wild. I have followed your advice, and enclose a picture demonstrating the technique I employ on my grandson when he just won't behave. They do not allow me to spank him, so I just take him for a ride, and he usually calms down afterward. Sincerely, Tough Love Grandma

A rigid upper certainly won't hurt things, but at that point you are getting a LOT less return for your money, plus your probably going to add a little weight overall.
-
Hopfully we will see the same effect on ammo price/availibility...

I also own a 10/22 Ruger and a few years back decided to do a little work on the hammer/sear assembly. Initally the triggr pull was very chrisp with reduced creep, but eventually my work resulted in doubles... I opened it up again and replaced this assembly with aftermarket upgrades and now have no worries on chain fires. Well worth the few dollars spent.

Just curious as to why you won't shoot this stuff out of your rifles, and what may be your preference in ammo. TIA!

I'm just finishing a new build, and recently moved from the West Metro down to Eagan. Are you still looking for someone to shoot with?
