    Friendly diversion. My watch collection

@retcop, have you taken a look at MVMT watches? A dressier look for under $200 on just about all of their models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Got ‘er done!

Got it out on the range for a few test shots yesterday. One round at a time in the mag, and the BCG isn’t locking to the rear following last round. Had some jammed ejections as well. Need to do some buffer/gas block tuning. But...it didn’t blow up in my face, so I’m calling it a win so far! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Got ‘er done!

Appreciate the help and ideas I received from everyone through not only my first build, but my first AR in general. This has been fun! Scope is on the way, and I’ll be getting some rounds down range tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    14.5” 300 Blackout barrels

Thanks all! Full disclosure, the reason I want the 14.5 instead of the 16” is 100% based on the look I’m going for. To me, that’s part of the beauty of an AR. They can look like just about anything you want them to. In addition to CQB/plinking, I plan to do a little hunting with it as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Been scouring the web and searching the forums looking for a 14.5” barrel for my build. 1st build, 300 Blackout. Found the $100ish Anderson 14.5”, but I don’t want to go too “cheap” and I really don’t know anything about Anderson. Next up is the TRIARC 14.5” at $220. Looking for reviews of these, or something recommended in this price range. Not trying to build a precision rifle here. Just a quality CQB/100yd plinker. Thanks guys! AR assesories for a beginner

If you’re thinking trigger, I went with a drop in JMT Saber. My first build, so I really have no idea what I’m doing, but I’ve shot a lot of different guns, and this is easily in my top 5...all for under $100. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Stripped uppers

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! First build, and finding a billet upper that I like the look of with no forward assist has been the most difficult part so far. Ordering RIGHT MEOW! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Normal for Mil-spec to be off?

I just took another look at my parts and reread what Glenn had originally wrote. No, the button does not allow the catch bolt to thread all the way through. I can bottom out the bolt inside the button, and I still have another ~1/8” of mag catch threads to go. Plan to grind down the bolt and attempt to use the current parts. If it doesn’t work, I’m perfectly ok with buying an additional $15 part to make it all work correctly. Thanks again everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Normal for Mil-spec to be off?

That’s a great question, Glenn. I can’t tell for sure. I threaded the button on outside the lower and I thought it bottomed out early. Can’t say for sure though, and I don’t want to make assumptions being that this is my first build. My first thought was to shave 1/8” off from the mag release bolt (again, hope that makes sense) and try it again. Most of my build has been SI stuff, and everything else has been stellar so far. Normal for Mil-spec to be off?

In the process of making my first build, and my mag release doesn’t quite fit. Button bottoms out before the release is able to catch on the other side (hopefully that makes sense). It’s a Strike Industries mag release, and a Triton lower. Anyone else have similar problems? How common is it to have to grind down thread length on certain mil-spec parts? 11. Hey y’all. Never had an AR, but I’m familiar with the platform. Active duty Navy, 16 years and counting. Been wanting one for a while, but never wanted a cookie cutter, so decided to build my own from the start. Have a local (Va Beach) company that makes really nice major pieces, so decided to start with a DOA/Triton billet lower. Looking at Triton or Davidson upper and a Triton handrail. Piecing together my own LPK. Maybe a little aggressive, but I want this to be “the gun”. Taking all advice onboard. Thanks in advance for the help! Tim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
