Normal for Mil-spec to be off?

I just took another look at my parts and reread what Glenn had originally wrote. No, the button does not allow the catch bolt to thread all the way through. I can bottom out the bolt inside the button, and I still have another ~1/8” of mag catch threads to go. Plan to grind down the bolt and attempt to use the current parts. If it doesn’t work, I’m perfectly ok with buying an additional $15 part to make it all work correctly. Thanks again everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s a great question, Glenn. I can’t tell for sure. I threaded the button on outside the lower and I thought it bottomed out early. Can’t say for sure though, and I don’t want to make assumptions being that this is my first build. My first thought was to shave 1/8” off from the mag release bolt (again, hope that makes sense) and try it again. Most of my build has been SI stuff, and everything else has been stellar so far. In the process of making my first build, and my mag release doesn’t quite fit. Button bottoms out before the release is able to catch on the other side (hopefully that makes sense). It’s a Strike Industries mag release, and a Triton lower. Anyone else have similar problems? How common is it to have to grind down thread length on certain mil-spec parts? 4. Hey y’all. Never had an AR, but I’m familiar with the platform. Active duty Navy, 16 years and counting. Been wanting one for a while, but never wanted a cookie cutter, so decided to build my own from the start. Have a local (Va Beach) company that makes really nice major pieces, so decided to start with a DOA/Triton billet lower. Looking at Triton or Davidson upper and a Triton handrail. Piecing together my own LPK. Maybe a little aggressive, but I want this to be “the gun”. Taking all advice onboard. Thanks in advance for the help! Tim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
