SLR15 Rifles is featured in the current issue of Guns & Ammo Magazine Tactical Guns & Gear Annual, Shooting Times (January 2008), and October 2007 SWAT Magazine Cover Article on our Grail Rifle , and the March 2006 SWAT Magazine Cover Story. Our Armoring Course has taught for a decade all over the country. The armoring course with our shooting course was reviewed in SWAT Magazine September 2004 Article. This course is currently mentioned in the August 2006 issue of SWAT Magazine, and you will see another great picture of one of our rifles in the December 2006 (pg.74) issue as well. Here is a brief overview of what is covered and I can tell you it is a very busy hands on full 2-days of AR15/M16 Armoring: History of the Weapon Cycles of Function General Disassembly & Assembly Identification of Common Problems and Parts Nomenclature Identification of Group Components Semi, Burst, and Full Auto Parts and Conversions Complete Armoring Disassembly / Assembly Barrel Replacement Cleaning and Maintenance Sight and Distance Considerations Ballistic Issues Barrel Twist, Length, and Choices Gas System Parts Interchangability, including Brands Headspace Firing Pin Protrusion Trigger Jobs Chamber Inspection and Polishing Accessories and Customizing Tool Options and Selection Iron Sights (A1/A2/A3) Disassembly/Reassembly Optics SOP/MOD Accessories and Additions Etc All tools, manuals, and anything else that is necessary is supplied. We will provide rifles with prior arrangements so we know how many to bring. We prefer that students bring their own weapon systems to get familiar with their own configuration and modifications, plus this allows the time for a good thorough cleaning and inspection, plus we can replace and repair any parts necessary. This is a very intensive course that we cover in 2-days, so be prepared to get a lot of hands on knowledge. All that successfully complete this course will receive Armorer's Certification, and will also have an opportunity to purchase a SLR15 rifle at a special Armorer's rate. We are working on our 2008 schedule. We also have courses tenatively on the calendar for MN, TN, CA, KS, AL, MO, PA, NV, IL, IN, TX, WI, and a few others. If anyone would like to host one please contact us to make arrangements, all we need is a suitable classroom for a course and we will be there, the host gets a minimum of 2 complimentary spots. Two fun filled and action packed days that will give everyone a full spectrum of all force options in great detail. All attendees will be receive extensive training on legalities, different force options other than firearms, and then will be put through multiple scenarios where they will be put into situations where use of force decisions will have to be made, applied and justified. Some of the training will include: Verbal Skills Body Language Empty Hand Techniques pressure points Chemical & Pepper Sprays Impact tools Electronic incapacitation devices Improvised Tools Knife Day-1 starts out with some lecture. From there it moves right into all hands on training in a full spectrum of defensive tools. The improvised weapons is a must for anyone who travels to places where they might not have access to their normal carry firearm. On day-2 of the course we will be doing some scenario based training where students will be tasked to deal with a bad guy or guys, and have to make force option decision, apply them, then justify their perceptions and actions. The scenario based training session will allow all students to apply the different force options, and there will be some simunition work involved as well. The justification stage is to help attendees prepare for the aftermath of legal issues and justify their actions. Students just need to show up, no use of force weapons are needed, as we will provide all the force options and tools. If students have a fighting knife of some sort, a good folder would suffice, then please bring it for the knife session, if you do not have one we will provide one. 2005 Class 2006 Class CY6 Greg Sullivan "Sully" Chief Instructor SLR15 Rifles TheDefensiveEdge.com
  4. PRACTICAL HANDGUN EVENTS Defensive Edge is now offering Practical Handgun sessions! You do not have to be one of our Alumni to attend, as this is “OPEN TO ALL” who have a valid Minnesota permit to carry. This will allow people the opportunity to practice and hone their skills from concealment as all courses of fire will be done from concealment. If you are up to the challenge and are willing to have fun please come out and join us. These range days will be held in all weather conditions, so be prepared for sun, rain, wind, dirt, and bugs. This is not a typical competition shoot. It is based on quality marksmanship, sound tactics, and follow through. Each shooter will be timed and scored based on Defensive Edge Practical Doctrine. On occasion it will be physical with some possible running, crawling, climbing, jumping etc. Shooters will be required to reload tactically, often, and must do so from behind cover or concealment when available. Tactical reloads must be done before leaving cover, and after the final target in a stage is engaged. Hostage and innocent bystander target hits will be penalized. All shooting and uses of cover and concealment must be tactically sound or it will be penalized. This is not based on competition, but is for those that have a very open mind to be challenged and learn with some great practice time, as well as have fun (no bad attitudes allowed--the Range Staff can disqualify and remove anyone from the facilities as necessary). The Range Staff’s word and decisions are final (no arguments, as arguments aren’t fun). There will be two courses of fire that will be done separately. Targets will be steel, paper and cardboard. All courses of fire will test skills for accuracy and tactical & practical correctness. Shooters will be allowed to go through the courses once in each discipline and then may shoot through again in a different discipline. Disciplines are Semi-Automatic Pistol, and Revolver. Location: Princeton, MN at our home based range. Maps and directions can be obtained off of our website. Once we have them in our hands we will inspect them, if they are good to go then we will put the traditional Colt Grey color Duracoat exterior finish on them. Then we will need the FFL's so they can be shipped out. CY6 Greg Sullivan "Sully" Chief Instructor SLR15 Rifles TheDefensiveEdge.com
