  1. I just read today that J. Guthrie of the Sportsman's Channel Modern Sporting Rifles died April 12, 2013. Guthrie, age 37, passed away in his sleep. He is survived by his wife and two children. Guthrie had teamed up with Dick Metcalf to co-host Modern Sporting Rifles, the first show of its kind about the AR 15 platform. Guthrie was also a noted outdoor writer who was featured in Guns and Ammo magazine as well as the NRA's American Rifleman. Those of us who shoot and hunt with the AR 15 have lost a true friend. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
  2. Approximately 500 to 600 patriots turned out on a blistery cold and snowy day to exercise their First Amendment rights. A variety of speakers that included Skip Coryell, founder of the 2nd Amendment March, a bevy of State Legislators, gun rights activists and law enforcement officials were also on hand to encourage and motivate the faithful. Participants were encouraged to spread the message to those who have taken a neutral stance on gun rights and take them to a local range for some hands on firearm instruction. As an interesting side note, 7 school tours were scheduled on the same day. Unnamed state officials called the schools in advance and told them about the 2nd Amendment March taking place as well and all 7 school tours cancelled. They were apparently afraid that the school kids would be traumatized by all the open carry of AR 15 rifles and shotguns. As to the children's safety, I believe they would be safer there than in their "gun free zone" schools. Two State of Michigan Troopers were on hand to monitor the gathering. As one bystander said, "The gun rights people were more well behaved than the unions and teachers who have participated recently at that Capitol."

  5. Approximately 600 attended the Guns Across American Rally on Saturday, January 19, 2013. On April 19, 2010, the 2nd Amendment Rally drew 300. From a state that boasts 750,000 deer hunters and many many more law abiding firearms owners this is just not going to cut it. Besides, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting. Our message must be Loud and Clear. No more restrictions! Your attendance is critical. I know many of you work. However, you can call in sick or take a personal day. Better yet, just come until 12:00 noon. Bring your sons and daughters. They will learn more about America and what She stands for than any civics, government or history class. What we do (or not do) today will affect their future.

The Michigan Legislature is in session that day. We'll be showing them the political strength of Michigan's legal gun owners. 7. The following Supreme Court candidates are endorsed by the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO): Markman, Zhara and O' Brien. They adhere to the MI Constitution as well as the US Constitution and do not believe in legislating from the bench. Also their support of the 2nd Amendment is well documented. Please give them your consideration on November 6..Oh yeah, and don't forget to VOTE!!

  10. I'm using 50 grain Hornady V-Max in my AR and Handi-Rifle in .223 Rem. 24 grains of H322 and CCI small rifle primers. Does a real nice job on tipping woodchucks over. For practice, I use Winchester 55 grain FMJ.
  11. I've owned a 608 for a number of years and have been extremely satisfied with it. I've taken two whitetails with it and a number of varmints. I put a multi-reticle red dot scope on it (the old peepers aint what they used to be) and have been very happy with the accuracy.
