    Anybody have the Troy DOA?

I put the DOA on my new build. The white cross lines show well and give a slightly faster reference. There is still a clear center area around the front post. I have a HI-VIZ front sight and it works well with that. I haven't been shooting AR's that long, so I don't have years of experience to retrain looking at the standard sights. I'm seriously near sighted with presbyopia, so I need all the help I can get. IMHO with some practice it will work better than the standard ghost ring.

    Handgun Drill Post

Made this up from a qualification course I found on a Transtar target. I just use it for training. It takes 100 rounds to complete it. Pretty much any target with a headshot zone will do. Rifle Build Complete

Thanks for the compliments. Looking forward to some good times shooting. I have another stripped receiver, will decide what to build after I get some experience with this one. Have to save up a little bit too.

    Rifle Build Complete

Finally finished the new AR. Nothing special, just a basic rifle. Anvil Arms Lower Delton 16" Mid-length Kit Hi-Viz front sight Cheap rear sight until I decide on something. Put 60 rounds through this afternoon, worked great. No failures and nothing came loose. Have to do a little more work sighting in. The wide group is more the shooter's fault than the gun.
  5. The lower and the kit have arrived! Put the lower together last night, went ok, no major dings or scratches and I didn't have any parts left over. Will get it finished next weekend, still have to clean the upper before final assembly. Here are the pics so far.
  6. Two thumbs up! Been carrying USP40 Compact for a few years on and off duty. Nice pistol. Shoots well and is absolutely reliable. I have about 5000 rounds through my duty gun and about 1500 through my personal one with no failures. I suggest variant 7 with the LEM trigger.

    First Build

Right now just planning on learning to handle it with defensive purposes as a goal. Probably just shooting paper out to 100 yds., that's the longest range available at our club.

    First Build

Greetings, new to the forum. Planning my first AR build, would like some opinions. Starting with a DPMS lower and Del-Ton kit. Trying to decide on flat-top vs a2 handle. I'm thinking with the flat top and either a detachable handle or a rear post sight I can add an optic later. Would like a 16" barrel, but undecided between the carbine or mid-length. Getting older so the further away the front sight is the less fuzzy it is. Or should I just go with a 20" barrel?
