Michigan's Second Amendment March

www.secondamendmentmarch.com

Mark your schedules! Reserve the day off work! Michigan's Second Amendment March will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at Michigan's Capitol. We anticipate several thousand gun owners will be at the march. The march will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a sidewalk procession from the corner of Michigan and Pennsylvania to the Capitol. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., people will meet with their state representatives. Musical entertainment and pro-gun speakers will take the stage from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. From 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., people will meet with their state senators. The Michigan Legislature is in session that day. We'll be showing them the political strength of Michigan's legal gun owners. The march is being organized by Skip Coryell's Second Amendment March and jointly promoted and funded by the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners, Michigan Open Carry, Michigan Gun Owners and Michigan Students for Concealed Carry.

A volunteer form is now up and running on the home page at Second Amendment March Volunteer Form. If you are interested in assisting at the march, please use the form on that page to sign up.

Approximately 600 attended the Guns Across American Rally on Saturday, January 19, 2013. On April 19, 2010, the 2nd Amendment Rally drew 300. From a state that boasts 750,000 deer hunters and many many more law abiding firearms owners this is just not going to cut it. Besides, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting. Our message must be Loud and Clear. No more restrictions! Your attendance is critical. I know many of you work. However, you can call in sick or take a personal day. Better yet, just come until 12:00 noon. Bring your sons and daughters. They will learn more about America and what She stands for than any civics, government or history class. What we do (or not do) today will affect their future.

Approximately 500 to 600 patriots turned out on a blistery cold and snowy day to exercise their First Amendment rights. A variety of speakers that included Skip Coryell, founder of the 2nd Amendment March, a bevy of State Legislators, gun rights activists and law enforcement officials were also on hand to encourage and motivate the faithful. Participants were encouraged to spread the message to those who have taken a neutral stance on gun rights and take them to a local range for some hands on firearm instruction.

As an interesting side note, 7 school tours were scheduled on the same day. Unnamed state officials called the schools in advance and told them about the 2nd Amendment March taking place as well and all 7 school tours cancelled. They were apparently afraid that the school kids would be traumatized by all the open carry of AR 15 rifles and shotguns. As to the children's safety, I believe they would be safer there than in their "gun free zone" schools. Two State of Michigan Troopers were on hand to monitor the gathering. As one bystander said, "The gun rights people were more well behaved than the unions and teachers who have participated recently at that Capitol."

I am glad you posted it.

It is a shame we are not seeing current posts like this regularly for the battles we are fighting today.

I am not saying we should do it at the drop of a hat, but when the issue is big enough, like banning ammo, we should be making our presence known.
