After the Spanish American War we just copied them and to hell with the patents. Its a beautiful piece. If I were a richer (and right handed) man I'd buy it. Good luck on the sale. I had an 03 A3 and thought I wanted to sporterize it.....well let's just say I kick myself every time I see something like this. Granted this was in my pre-savvy age on gun values and thought that if it wasn't new and shiny it wasn't worth anything. There was also a M1 carbine I let go for a song that had a bent barrel that was straightened in a vice. I keep thinking I could've got a new barrel after I got a little smarter.
