I went to BHW web site yesterday when I saw the post for the Black Friday sale.

And what do I see..... American 30 listed in the AR-15 barrel section.

Lengths of 16", 18" and 20". Looks like all are listed with mid-length gas systems and 1/11" twist at this time.

I'm looking to order a barrel on Friday. :D:

Greg,

It's going to be a while till these barrels get into our hands.

I already have the Hornady 30 Harrett dies. New Remington 6.8 SPC Brass, a few ASC 6.8 SPC magazines and a 6.8 SPC bolt in transit.

With all the testing you and the crew at BHW have been doing, I take it you will be posting basic load data for this cartridge in the near future?

Man! I haven't even shot my new 6X45 mm 20" BHW barreled AR upper yet. And I'm already assembling components for my next upper build.

Someone has a bad case of BRD.

Thanks again to all you at BHW who brought this cartridge to fruition.

Hoping you have great success with it.

Glenn

The American 30 is up on the web site. It currently lists only MID length gas. They are ADDING CARBINE to it. They WILL NOT be doing rifle length as a standard offering due to the expansion ratio vs small powder charges.

Advice for loading wlll be available as the factory ammuntion is still being formulated.

Golly gee willikers Batman! That was fast.

Looks like BHW is in overdrive for this caliber!

I was thinking after Christmas- New Years for delivery.

Thanks for the heads up, Greg.

I'm getting my barrel done with the black shot peened finish. So It will most likely shipped be out at a later date.

I still need to order three more components for this upper build.

1) Troy 13" VTAC Alpha rail.

2) BTE micro adjustable gas block.

3) 30 cal. flash suppressor/muzzle brake. Still have not chosen one yet.

Here's what I have so far;

Of course I will need more 6.8 SPC magazines, but this will do for a start.

I look forward to see other members builds.

Things are going to get interesting fast.

Thank you.

Glenn

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been sold on the American 30. I traded my .300 BLK rifle for a Savage Model 12 LPV BDM in .300 WSM wearing a Vortex Viper 6.5-20. That is put to bed. So I am putting a Barrel on my 2105 project wish list. Then buying a part a time!

One thing nice is the much lower price on the uppers and lowers. Worse than a BOGO at a drug house. I believe they are enabling our addiction.

When you get going don't hesitate to ask for advice. I'm assisting five guys right now on the 3O and some other variants.

When the tax check rolls in.....I am placing the order for the barrel in the peened finish. I have an eyball on a finished Anderson Upper. Are the only different parts I will need are the 6.8 BCG and Magazines? If I am getting .308 performance for AR15 prices I don't have any problems with that.
