I built a range out back of the house to do some shooting.

Mowing down the weeds and a few 2x4s, plywood, empty deer corn sacks and some planks did the trick. I used an old spool that was laying around for a bench.

A 100' tape measure and I marked distances at 7, 10, 25 and 50 yards.

It rained last night, so the feed sacks got wet.

It's not fancy, but it beats going to a range and paying. And, I can shoot what I want and as much as I want.

Getting older sucks! Yesterday I pulled a calf muscle running from the river to engage the targets.

I was running to the 50 to shoot prone, run to the 25 to shoot kneeling and run to the 7 to shoot standing. Just making up different drills as I go. Something I can't do at the range.

Very nice Raven. If I had a berm like that in my back yard, I'd have a permanent shooting range.

All you need now is some steel.

That is some of the dirt from digging a tank on the other side.

Been thinking about it, might make a few steel targets. Lots of stuff just lying around.

So far, the total cost of this project has been $24.96 for 2x4s and plywood.

Well, if you're ever in Texas...

I'm in VA lol, bit of a drive but I appreciate the invite. If I moved to one of the neighboring cities I have friends with enough land and space that they manage to have 300yd backyard ranges.

Nice range, I'm jealous also. Grand daughter just bought a place that we may be able to put a 100 yarder.

If I went back another 50 yards, I'd be in the river.

Virginia?!? Oh! Hmmm... I'm not sure if you can get here from there.

In my part of Texas, you don't get many 300 yard shots. Not without hitting a tree along the way.

My Mom and Dad live about an hour South of San Antonio and my Older Brother and Younger Sister are Sheriff's Deputies in Austin. Hill country is very nice.
