towtruck
Woke up to no internet this morning. Reset everything several times and finally jumped past the router straight to the desk top and I at least have connection now. This will not do as I am going to be stuck on the couch for a few days so off to the store we go to get a new Apple Air Port.

towtruck
Just bought a new one and set up the password and no dice...still will not turn green and let me go. I am going to be pissed if I cannot get this going by the end of the day. I don't think having me on the couch post op and the wife with no i-pad connection that we will make it without killing each other
DanR
Make sure you call you Internet provider to make sure they support your new router. They may need to "turn you on".
bamashooter
Have you tried your ethernet cable from router to pc to begin pinpointing the problem?
towtruck
All cables have been checked and replaced. Bought the same router as before and have it set up but it says the ip address is wrong. I am going to shoot this thing in a minute. I have reset it and punched in all the numbers it has asked.......I hate computers!!!!!!!!!! it looks like I am going to be stuck. towtruck
Well that was a hundred bucks I did not need to spend.......no internet this morning and the router was flashing yellow not green. Hooked directly into my desk computer and I had internet. Bought a new router.....cussed at it for 5+ hours as I tried to set it up.....made phone calls and cussed some more. I got mad and plugged in the old router, put all the new stuff away and walked away thinking we were going to have to live without internet until after my surgery in the morning and when I can heal up enough to move around and keep messing with it. I grabbed my laptop and was playing the only game I have on it (solitaire) when I thought I would check the status of my connection.....ta da it came back on all by it's self. I don't know what I am more pissed about.....wasting 100 bucks and an entire afternoon or that the phone company neglected to tell me they were having issues. DanR
Told you to call them! Your provider is the cause of 99% of router problems.

CityfiedHillbilly
Some providers check the Mac address of your hardware. If your provider does and your new router has a different Mac address, then it wouldn't connect without changes on their end. Just something to keep in mind for future complications. Casper
...I don't think having me on the couch post op and the wife with no i-pad connection that we will make it without killing each other I'm glad you got the internet back, but I'm a little disappointed. I had $50 on the wife winning.
FEENIX
I had a similar experience and went ahead and changed my router. My router is nearly 5 years old, still works but have noticed, it has slowed down significantly. I went with http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/Archer-C8.html (paid $49.99 for it) and it shows significant improvement.
