Snow checked a new snowmobile

Recommended Posts

When I saw that Yamaha was bringing these back for their 50th anniversary this year, I knew I had to get one for my boys. My son will be 4 next season, and it's time for him to have a sled of his own. Paid the down payment today and it should be here by October.

Freaking awesome!

It's been a decade or more since there was anything between the mini 120s and full adult sized sleds. It's about time somebody brought back something that folks can get their kids to get them into the sport before they're 14-15 and so hooked on video games that they're never coming outdoors again.

I agree, and with the built in throttle limiting on this one we can dial it down while they are younger and turn it up some when they are ready for the next level. We were so close to just buying him a 120 or trying to find an old school snoscoot, but when they made this announcement a couple of weeks ago we knew this was going to be perfect.

We also plan to add a radio controlled killswitch to it so we can shut the kids down on it if they start getting crazy, but next winter is going to be so fun for my oldest.

Anyone have experience with remote kill switches?

I want kid's ATVs for my kids, but my oldest can get a little too crazy.

I wish we had snow here long enough to justify snowmobiles. That would be pretty awesome.

I need some land to ride ATVs. Maybe a piece of land for hunting, riding and camping will be in my future.

These are the ones my dealer sells -

They say they work good, the quality of the hand controller leaves a lot to be desired but they do work according to them. Never had a chance to use one yet, but I plan to put one on this little sled.

That is so cool, what is the HP and "open" speed on that lil pup?

9.1 HP, and a top speed of about 35mph is what they are claiming.

That's awesome OP. Start'em young and teach them safety! I had a really bad wreak on my Yamaha Nitro XTX back in 2013. My neck will never be the same.lol

Oh absolutely. This thing has an adjustable throttle so I can limit him while he is little and gradually give him more power. I am also having a radio controlled kill switch installed so I can turn it off remotely if he gets too crazy.

His new sled should be here next month sometime, I am contemplating having a wrap made up for it to be put on before he gets it.
