Just think, if wed have had the internet back then thoudands of armchair commandos would have been sitting around lusting over that latest tacticool gear to take to theri next training class.

 

In all seriousness, those are some really neat old photos. Makes you really realize how much gear has changed over the years.

Pretty cool. I've worked with several countries and most have much better rats. MREs were a big step forward when they became hot meals (at first we dumped them in a messkit, steel pot, etc and mixed (tried to mix) them in cold water. Anything's edible with a little sterno and Tabasco. I always had one ammo pouch dedicated to carrying multiple bottles of Tabasco miniatures. Hardest part was getting them (care pkgs) and they made excellent barter.

These aren't issue kits perse there are quite a few personal items included ie what looks like Scrabble tiles in the US kit.
