Amtrak Train Derails on Highway Bridge in Washington State, Several Killed

Helpful tip of the day. You cannot "kick the windows" out of a train. They are made to stay intact in the frame even under the impact of a human body moving at 115 mph. They are built this way to keep bodies from flying through in a high speed train crash and make it easier for the coroner to find everyone. However, if you are trapped inside a train the windows are easily removable. They are removable from the outside using the same procedure.

At the bottom center of the window on the inside and outside there is a plastic cover. Grab the cover and lift it. There will be 2 rings exposed now. Grab each ring and pull it around the perimeter of the window. When complete you can push the window out easily. Kicking it will before you have pulled the rings completely around will break things but they will be bone and not window.

If the train car is upside down the cover will be at the top center.

This concludes today's lesson.

As a training thing we had 4 firefighters attack a window with tools trying to remove it without pulling the rings. They beat themselves and the window silly and it still wouldn't open. Pull the rings and 1 guy can remove it in 10 seconds.

That's an interesting angle that I haven't heard mentioned.

There are 140,000 miles of rail in the US. 99% of them are in areas that aren't under constant surveillance. A bunch of them a only seen when a train rolls by on them. They also carry a good percentage of the goods that make the economy run. Bonus points if you can derail a passenger train and kill the evil capitalists on their way to work. Triple bonus points if you can derail one in a city that is carrying dangerous chemicals.

Chances of getting caught? About zero.
