New MARATAC light from CountyComm

Recommended Posts

CountyComm is offering a new-version of their MARATAC flashlight line.  This one is called the:  Ultra 18650 Extreme Rechargeable LED.  Price is $59.95 out-the-door.  If your a new subscriber, you can get a discount code for their site.  Once again, this is just an FYI.  I have no affiliation with this vendor.  Comes with the battery, and a USB mini-cable.  I took the liberty of ordering one today.

Maratac 18650 made-it in today.  Cursory inspection reveals a well-made EDC light.

Never heard of that one. Does that brand have a good reputation?

Yep, on a par with both Fenix and Nitecore brands.   Just a simple light with three modes:  low, medium, and high.  Tailcap can be turned 1/8" for safety lock-out.

The control switch is on the side?

No.  It's located on the top.  The picture is a view from the top of the flashlight.  Thumb-actuated with either dominate hand.  There is no tail-cap switch on this model.  Mini-USB hatch is on the bottom, opposite the main switch.  There is no strobe-function on this light either.  Something that I don't require, or need.

Hey Z1Z !

Have you been using that Maratac light as an EDC ?

I was wondering if you could do a long term review for us.

The "top button switch" would be perfect for the wife.

She struggles with stiff tailcap buttons because of her hands.

One thing i would like to be clear about. Does the flashlight go back to the last setting you had it on,

or must you scroll thru the levels each time you turn the light on ? Is the body of the light polymer ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

John

Retcop,

Sorry, I didn't catch this query of yours.

The Maratac has been a great EDC torch.  Light always returns to the mid-level setting, when turned-on.  The body of the flashlight is solid, aircraft-grade aluminum.  Very easy on/off switch.  No problems of any kind with the light.  High-beam casts a very bright light.  Medium, and low-beam are perfect for most applications.  Holds a charge for a long-time, and uses a 'flat-top' 18650 battery, which is included with the purchase price.  Conveniently charges at any USB-port:  car, wall, computer, etc.  Power-switch blinks while-charging, and turns 'solid-green' when completed.  Comes with a pocket-clip, and I carry mine in jeans, or cargo-shorts with no issues.  It would tuck-away in a purse easily.  CountyComm made a titanium-version of this torch, 500 units; that sold-out rather quickly.  As a proviso:  I turn-the tailcap, a quarter-turn to prevent the switch from getting bumped-on in my pocket.  Since, it is a top-button switch.
