So I was told about this Airbnb thing vs a hotel.....anybody ever use them or know people who have...

Staying in some strangers house....even if your in a spare bedroom, whats to keep them from digging thru your junk and snooping when your not there....

And are they freaks, serial killers & such...who gives up a room in the house for such a thing?

My daughter and her family use them..met two other couples for a weekend on 6th street a couple of weeks ago..it was cheaper and better than a hotel..had the whole house..headed for a four day in Arkansas next weekend with the kids for spring break..don't know how many other times they have used the airb&b thing, but as far as I know it has always been a house, not a room in a house..have not heard a negative..

would I do it? No, but I don't do uber either..I think it's a generational thing..

I looked at AirBnb and sometimes you are sharing with the owner and other people. I prefer a separate house or apartment.

My brother uses it all the time. loves it. My partner at work uses nothing but Air BnB whn he travels to Europe. Loves it.

The European stuff fascinates me.

I know the wife and I should have made our trip to Europe a couple of decades ago,

but it did not work out.

I wonder if there is a reliable way to find decent places in the near-countryside,

or in parts of town that are still in good shape

The wife and I would still like to see at least Ireland and Poland, with some stops in between.

I would probably use it in Europe

I can stay in a room for way cheaper than on Patrick AFB in the Merritt Island area......but living like that with Stranger Danger.....

However,  I could use that address for B&H Police Supply & get a AR pistol chambered in 308 :bignono:

How long do you need to live in Florida to be considered a resident :who_there:

Yes, I started using one about three weeks ago.  I recently took a job in Louisville, KY and I'm staying in one in Jeffersonville, IN.  The people live there and honestly it felt a little strange when I got there.

The couple is really nice and they rent to travelling nurses.  There are a couple there with me.

There's a small kitchenette area in the basement where I'm staying, it has a refrigerator and a microwave.  I come home on the weekends so we do my laundry when I'm home, pack my lunches for the week and I take tubs of chili, apples, etc.

The Air BNB website has everyone establish an account with copies of their driver's licenses and there are ratings from previous users as well.  I don't have any valuables except my wallet and it's always with me.

It's WAY cheaper than even an extended stay.  We close on our house this Friday so this week will be the last of it.  It really hasn't been too bad.  I do share a bathroom with one other guy who is a nurse that has been staying with them for almost a year but he works nights so there has not been a bathroom conflict yet.

Honestly, it's not bad at all.  The people with whom I'm staying are really nice and they have an old, sweet little dog.

I'd probably do it again.

We have used them a couple of times, we got the whole place and it was a vacation rental that just went to booking through Airbnb.  No personal belongings or anything in the homes, just fully furnished and ready for anyone to book.   It has been a great experience every time.
