Honda Rancher crankcase breather, engine sucked the filter in!

Recommended Posts

Hey, I think I have a major issue. I have a 2006 Rancher that has been sitting up. Well I've been working on it, and noticed the filter inside the airbox that goes to the crankcase breather tube is gone, and there are little pieces of the foam everywhere inside the tube. I think the engine sucked the foam in. What in the world do I do? Is this a simple, "just change the oil and you'll be ok", or is this a "you just toasted your engine unless you completely disassemble it and get the crumbly foam out?"

Swap out the oil and don't worry about it.

That what I was going to say also, but I couldn't remember how to spell "oil".

That's what I kinda figured. I just can't see Honda building something that can be taken out that easily, and putting foam rubber in a place like that if it would be an engine killer. Seems like the screen and filter would catch it. But, knowing my luck, it's possible.
