Even More Tinkering! "How's The Weather in There" Goes Wireless!

Recommended Posts

Recently I posted this thread where I built an environment monitor for my big 3D printer.

I call that thing 'The Gadget'. Well, here's 'Gadget 2.0'.

That's a screen shot from the web browser on my phone. The New-and-improved Gadget is now wireless and has a web server built in to display the conditions to any browser on my home network. With some firewall and router config I can broadcast to any web browser anywhere. I may work on the code to add the OLED display as well.

The thing that blows my mind is how cheap the new hardware is. If I want to wait for delivery from China the controller and sensor are a whopping $4.50 for both.

Nice.  At the university our students were using Raspberry Pies for about anything you could imagine.  Cheap, reliable and very adaptable for so many reporting type devices.
