AR15ARMORY LOAD DATA THREAD

Recommended Posts

Howdy! New to the forum, well versed in reloading. Got a new toy for Christmas, a Stag 7L in 6.8 SPC. I have just acquired dies and what not, and have a box of 110gr Hornady V-max's, ready to brew up some loads. I noticed that "The Specialist" posted a load for this round, but his stated powder load is below either the Hoidgdon or Nosler info I found on line. I'm a bit curious about that... Otherwise, just looking to see if anyone else out there has a pet load for the 6.8

Welcome to the board. I'd copy and paste this one and start a regular thread here in the Reloading area. You'll get a lot more play.

308 F-TR load

Custom F-TR gun

30 inch barrel

11 twist

Lapua Palma brass

44.3 grains IMR4895

CCI 450 primers

185 grain Berger Juggernauts

2.350 Base to ogive

stable from 50-90 degrees

This is the load for my F-TR rifle, average muzzle velocity is 2733FPS with a ES of 5

0.3MOA grouping at 100 yards

13.25MOA drop at 600

in testing held 0.5 MOA vertical spread at 600 yards (.7MOA over all, but I suck at reading wind)

Edit to note: I used this load in competition and shot 193-4X 193-7X, 196-7X

Hello and I'm new to the site and a new AR15 owner. I'm not new to reloading but am to reloading for a AR. Which dies are you guys using for the AR? I see RCBS make a AR specific die. But just wondering what everyone else is using.

Thanks doug

I use standard 223 dies for all my AR's. The specific ones you see are small base and it is a rare bird that requires these. I use RCBS, Hornady and Reddings. I much prefer the Redding bushing style, but if not theose I prefer the Hornady over the RCBS because of the floating seater.
