High of 48 here and rain all day, high of 46 and rain almost all day where the range is & it rained both places yesterday and last night so the dirt road to the range is most likely a nasty swamp...

So, who's a fair weather shooter & who shoots when it's wet and nasty out.....

Elite is located on the IL/WI boarder. If we waited for a warm, clear sunny day we would only test outside once a year. Last November we did some testing outdoors. The battery on my Camcorder froze and I had to finish taking the videos with my still frame camera video function without sound.

Still might, but I'm wimpy and don't feel like a 100 mile round trip in the rain to go trudging through muck/mud just to go shooting..... :crying: :crying: :crying:

I'm such a wimp..... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

every day is a good day for shooting

except for fog, that stuff is scary :sSc_hiding2:

Hey, I agree! Every day is a good day to shoot. (Windy days tend to be a bit more challenging for the LR stuff).

Oh, and The Mist is scary too, not just The Fog. :D

Cold is another matter, we have gone shooting at -30F when living at Minot North Dakota cuz it was a warm sunny day with no wind & I had cabin fever rather bad

However, trying to pick up brass in 3-4 feet of snow is no fun.... :surrender: :surrender:

I try to avoid the range when the weather is good, unless I get up before God and I'm set up and ready to shoot by the time I can see the sights. When it's cold/raining/snowing the place is almost always deserted. If you can keep them in the black when it's barely above freezing with the wind howling and pouring rain you shouldn't have any trouble when it's warm and sunny.

Our PD has a saying: "If it ain't rainin', we ain't trainin'!" Seriously, if we have a range day without rain, it's a miracle. My last carbine class was in 3-4" of scattered snow/slush. Shooting prone was no fun at all.

Are you kidding? That is some of the best shooting time! No one around to bug you, the place is deserted except you and your buds, I love the rain anyway...

It gets so HOT here that it isn't fun to shoot on the sunny clear days of summer!

TOUGHEN UP, SOLDIER and go shoot the snot out of your critters!

Bring yer umbreller with ya...

Embrace the suck, Hooah?? No thanks

19 years in the Army I have done my share of "embracing the suck". If I have to fight in those conditions, I can, but I dont have to pratice in them. The militarys tradition of "lets pratice being misirable" is not my idea of a good time. No need to suffer when I dont have to.
