redbarron06
I already had a bad history with BOA before I saw this story this morning. But now I am absolutly livid. The idea that a bank that has recieved over 45 million of our dollars, has exclusive rights on some military bases would tell the family of a marine that was killed in action that they could not place flags in thier property (which was along the processions route) because it might offend somebody. This was the actions of the local branch manager. BOA has appoligized for the actions of the ass hat and claims that it was a missunderstanding. The BOA branch across town has a flag pole but no flag flying. The manager of this branch said that it is BOAs policy that no flags can be flown in order not to offend anybody. The corp office claims that it was a misunderstanding. The Gaffney SC govt has already closed accounts with the bank. Many individuals in town have already closed accounts and the town in urgering any city employee to close thier account. This one branch now stands to loose more than 1.5 million a month in deposits. GOOD FOR THEM. Articles related to this story. http://www.captainsjournal.com/ Go down a little you cant miss it. http://www.palmettoscoop.com/2009/09/17/ba...r-sc-flag-flap/ http://www2.counton2.com/cbd/news/local/ar...ag_congr/67214/ Contact BOA and let them know how you feel. Yeah, misunderstanding. Apparently the bank, like the government, is not getting the mood of the people. The Gaffney SC govt has already closed accounts with the bank. Many individuals in town have already closed accounts and the town in urgering any city employee to close thier account. This one branch now stands to loose more than 1.5 million a month in deposits. GOOD FOR THEM. That's the only way to deal with them. Money talks. Contact BOA and let them know how you feel. Will do. TS

diamondback688
I have a checking account with them that I opened about six months ago. I don't think I'm going to close it because I don't use it as my main account anyways. I only have that checking account with them because I went in and switched from a savings account that my mom and I opened about eight years ago to a student checking account. I only have like $25 in the account.
Rodekill
I think, if you are offended by the American flag you should consider living elsewhere. As for BOA, I dropped them 9 yrs ago, when they decided to penalize me( service charge) because I didn't have enough money in my savings acct. EvoPsych
Actually. If it wasn't for Bank of America...Most of you would be far more effected by the economic downturn than you are now. In fact. If there's one Banking institution in this country that embodied Conservative Monetary Policy and Principles before having a gun put to it.s head by the Fed...It would have been Bank of America. Bank of America was pretty much the soul voice in the wilderness screaming about the dangers of Irresponsible lending practices. It had even went so far as to attempt to Insulate itself against the Craziness that was going on with the Wall Street Banks like Merrill. BOA's executives at the time of the collapse made something like 1/8 of the salary of the big Wall Street Banks. BOA was the only Banking house in America that had any chance of solvency had natural selection taken place instead of the bailout and take over. BOA stepped up to the plate when it's country called and put up the money to save Merrill Lynch. Had it not done so our banking system and most of the economy would have melted down in a matter of days. What did they get for it. About 45 billion dollars in bad debt and taken over by the Fed. You guys need to watch this episode of Frontline called Breaking the Bank before you judge the actions of one crank employee by RedBarrons little 60 second sound bite. Bank of America's founders and Upper management couldn't be anymore Conservative. Some of you are falling into the liberal mindset of "The rich capitalists (Especially bankers) are inherently evil" without checking the real back story. Just knee jerk reaction when somebody posts a flag story. Many on this board own small businesses. Do any of you think your responsible or should be boycotted if one of your employees twists off and flips somebody the bird. No. You fire them or discipline them, but most of you wouldn't agree that you company is EVIL because of it.
Ithaqua
I don't trust banks the only time I have more than $20 in my bank account is when I deposit it to make an online order. Kadin
jchtrh
Thanks for the info Evo. You are right...not right to judge many by the actions of one...in is hypocritical.
HotShot
Oh SNAP! I have BOA for my checking and savings. The only other banks in this town are Bank of the West and Washington Mutual (unless they changes their names) so I don't have much choice. Have you heard anything about those two banks before I switch?
