new to everything AR, building a ''dissipator

Recommended Posts

and i'm new to this board.

and im trying to build a colt clone of the model 605, what bushmaster call's the dissipator.

any ya'll have one ? i started with a m4 bushyA3, but wanted a little more utility out of it.

tried my buddys colt rifle, loved the sights.

and the softer operating bolt ? smoother...best way i can describe it. i've had my carbine a few years now, runs like a clock, but ?

i knew there was something better.... till one day, i see old pictures of vietnam..had a colt model 605,

the light bulb went off...perfects i thinks.

rifle sights, and the 16'' barrel.

so hounding all the boards, researching...ordered a cmmg mid-length gas system, mid-contour barrel,

A1 stock, rifle buffer spring,

so ? thinks im doing ok so far ?

I really like my dissy.

Not a 605 clone but I do like the sight radius coupled with compact size.

my rifle's name is ''jenny'' ... :)

she spends lots of time, on the tractor/pickup/4wheeler.

just a hoping these new clothes i've ordered for her will make us both happy,

worried, that the barrel ? maybe a little muzzel heavy, hopes not. ordered the mid-contour,

I bought a stock Bushy and a PT 1911 when I first joined. So far they have both got alot of upgrades and I've purchaced a SA 1911. Not to mention my 308. These guys will guide you in the right direction if you let them. And BTW some of them will give you personal attenetion if you need it. In my case it was Neil, with a person to person phone call. That means alot in my book.As for 1911s IMHO Oak is the man to go with. YOU'll get no bashing, just honest answers.

Thank you. No, no names. I usually just call it my Dissipator or my coyote carbine.

Thanks, the 1911A1 was a much more detailed and involved build than the carbine. But both represent long term projects to get them to where they were in that picture. The Dissy has undrgone a couple changes since. It sports a Magpul CTR stock now and a Nikon 3-9 scope now. I may go back to the A1 stock for it though because it was simple. rugged, and always the same length.
