deej86
Does the state of Indiana issue CCP for handguns if the person carrying the handgun is 18? Yes Neil you can get a CCP in Indiana when you turn 18 early one in 15 Indiana adults have gun permits, which they can get once they turn 18 -- and without going through any training. Last year, about 76,000 permits were issued, and so far this year, about 35,000 have been handed out. They're good for four years. From kc3.com (I found this out from the IN HTF at another place, CCW is shall issue and if you get a CCW permit the ISP waives the background check at gunshows) Hope this helps. Nwatson99
I am still lost about this, you have to be 21 to purchase and posses a handgun, thanks Dee for the info.
JeremyVG
Neil, Let's pretend for a minute that you're 18 and I'm your dad. You turn 18 and get your permit. I can lend you a handgun to carry until you're old enough to buy your own. bc

2_Djinn
On my 18th B-day i applied for my CCW and got in 12 weeks. But you cant buy Handgun ammo or Handguns till your 21. I always told the girl at wal-mart the .40 ammo was for a rifle and never was asked twice......hehe
specwar
Working on doing that for my 20yr old daughter who lives in Muncie, going to Ball State. She is living with her older sister for now, but plans to move out after school. I just have to find out who and where we need to go to apply. I believe it will be the local police, just need to get some info before heading out. The both have already tried to pick out their choices from my toy vault, NOT!!! I will get them their own toys... indianamarine
My 3 yr concealed carry just expired so I applied for my lifetime permit it was $125, it would have only been $100 if I wouldnt of let my permit expire. Im not entirely sure if there is an age requirement for cc, I remember hearing a story about a guy getting one for his 2 year old, but it may have been in another state. Someone in Illinois got a FOID (Firearm Owners ID) card for their two year old. That's not a CCW. Eighteen is the minimum age in the State of Indiana to get a handgun permit. bc

UncleMike
My twin Foster Daughters had an issue with the Chief Of Police when they tried to get their CCW's after they turned 18. He refused it on the grounds that they couldn't own a handgun so they couldn't carry a handgun. They appealed to the State Police and were issued the permits. waterdog69
I have had a "permit to carry a handgun" since I was 18, I now have the "lifetime" permit. I do not think Indiana has anything called a CCP and you do not have to carry your gun concealed. It would be worth checking out.
